David Rutley MP and the Wilson family from Poynton have met with Transport Minister Stephen Hammond MP to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving. Following the tragic death of their son, Matt, in 2010, just two days short of his 22nd birthday, the Wilson family has campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving.

The fourth Macclesfield Barnaby Festival (and the biggest yet) officially launched on Friday 14 June 2013, at the historic town centre venue of Christ Church - dormant for the last 30 years but brought back to life as the flagship venue of this year’s celebrations.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley was delighted to give his full support to the Satellites of Macclesfield Swimming Club’s annual open meeting. Satellites is based in Macclesfield, but takes swimmers from a number of local towns, including Congleton, Leek and Biddulph.

David Rutley MP is giving his full support to the Listening Out Loud (LOL) Foundation and its work at Dreamcatcher Farm in Bosley. LOL is a voluntary organisation, which works to support homeless ex service personnel in Cheshire and the North West.

David Rutley MP for Macclesfield took time out of his busy Parliamentary diary to lead question and answer sessions with students from the Fallibroome Academy. The group of 32 Year 8 students had travelled to Westminster to find out more about how Parliament works.

David Rutley MP brought a taste of Parliament to sixth formers at Poynton High School to complement their studies on the British political system. The Year 12 and 13 students are studying politics as part of their General Studies course.

David Rutley visited Bollington during Tourism Week to highlight what makes the town a real destination. David regularly promotes the tourism sector and is a keen supporter of the English Tourism Week campaign, organised by VisitEngland. It encourages people to explore England and highlights the importance of tourism to local economies.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley is working with local councillors to take action to address road safety at a notorious accident blackspot on Hurdsfield Road. In the past year, there have been eight accidents on Hurdsfield Road, the latest of which led to the tragic death of pensioner Jean de Silva Jayasundera.

Visitors and commuters to Macclesfield’s Train Station are now greeted with striking new Make it Macclesfield branded banners and posters highlighting the myriad of activities and treasures available in and around the town.
